… if we can train our pets to obey certain rules or boundary limits, that would not only be to “our” benefit, but also to “theirs” (they prefer safety, consistency, and mutual respect). Dogs are constantly communicating with us (see Netflix: Inside the Mind of a Dog) without necessarily being aware of it. That’s just what they do!

Cats on the other hand observe and react conditionally based on a “feeling” they sense from their surroundings or environment. They’re less obliging to rules or guidelines, thus, much harder to be trained or taught limits. Wouldn’t you agree that each entity needs to be address separately?!
